Magma sat on the cliff outlooking the city. His stare was aimed down at the houses that still had lights on. He watched as people walked in and out of their homes. He sighed and looked up at the sky. The black night was lit with millions of stars that shone on Magma. His eyes sparkled as he watched each star shine with the moon. He smiled as he thought of his mom. He knew she was up there somewhere. He just didn't know if he would join her any day soon. Sighing once more, he leaned back and laid down on the rocks continuing to stare up into space. He kept staring and staring until he drifted to sleep.

Fledge sat in the braches of a near by tree. Her staff was held loosely in her hand as she looked up at the stars. The moon was bright, nearly like silvery daylight. Fledge was enjoying a rare moment of tranquility, a luxery for her after her brother died. She kept her gaze to the stars, but knew that Magma was there. She was wary, but not scared. A slight breeze flowed through the branches of her tree, blowing her hair. Her facial features were hard as they always were, but her golden-red eyes were soft and held a faraway gaze.

The cool breeze of the night sky blow softly over Magma's nose. He twitched a bit and opened his eyes, waking up. The moon was still shining down at him, and it seemed as though it was shining brighter than before. He awed the moon but he was still bored no less. He raised one arm in the air and flicked his fingers together, trying to spark with the friction. A few failed attempts to get a flame going made him slightly annoyed, but he managed to spark one up. He smiled at the ball of fire on his finger and it grew bigger. It flew off his hand and trailed above him, like a snake in the sky. He moved his finger in the direction he wanted it to go, but the wind blew again and took the flame with it. He brought his hand down and smiled again. "So, how long have you been here?" he asked. It was obviously said to the girl in the trees but he didn't turn to her.

Fledge stayed silent for a moment, the wind blowing through her hair as his words seemed to echo silently in the air. She looked up, the moonlight catching her face. Her surreal-looking eyes glinted, nearly like those of a cat. In fact, she looked quite cat-like, her slightly longer canines if she showedher teeth, the shape of her face, but most of all, her eyes were like that of a cat. "Awhile." She answered simply, uneasy at the male presence. She didn't turn either, just sat looking at the stars. Her hand subconciously ran along the scar that traced her cheek bone. This was the cost a male had given her and she wouldn't ever forgive him or his kind.

"Really?" Magma asked, sounding a bit stunned. "I didn't see you before, but whatever." Magma found it much easier to make a spark of fire as he did it once more. He blew it out himself this time without the wind's help. The wind blew in his face and he let out a smile. I miss you, mom, he thought. He blew into the air and watched as flames escape his lips, carried away by the wind. He smiled and closed his eyes.

"I was here before you came." Fledge explained. She followed Magma's movements carefully with her eyes now, "You like to show your powers, now don't you?" Her voice was free of malicion. Her gaze locked on Magma's face. Her uneasiness was waning.

"Uh...sorta," Magma answered, keeping his eyes closed. "I don't show it off all the time. Only on windy nights, like this one. I like to see the wind carry it away." He opened his eyes and noticed a star shine brighter than the rest. Hi, mom,

"You hold regret when you look at the stars. Why?" Fledge asked. She closed her eyes now. She tried invisioning the stars inher mind. (Sorry about the short post)

He remembered when his mom was killed. It was a dark night. He should have been asleep. He narrowed his eyes as he pictured his dad. He fought back tears as he told himself he wouldn't cry. "No reason," he said simply. "I don't like to talk about it." He lost his smile for a second and the wind seemed to stop around him.

"I'm sorry." Fledge said quietly. So he had lost some one as well. She found herself liking this guy more, maybe even trusting him a little for the fact he was in her situation and seemed alot kinder about it that her. He hadn't taken as hard a blow as her, but he'd still dealt with in better, maybe even gotten stronger from it. Fledge read all this from his face and body posture, a trick she'd learned while teaching herself how to bounty hunt. Something deep inside her stirred from a long, dormant sleep. Fledge half wondered what it was, for it had been lost inside her for so long. She then ignored whatever it was and returned to watching Magma.

Magma sighed and shook the picture of his father out of his mind. "It's fine," he said. "Just a bad memory." Taking a deep breath, he decided to sit upright and turn to face the girl. His red eyes met her face and noticed that she was looking right at him. He met her eyes with his and stared into them, quickly becoming a bit uneasy. He wasn't used to someone staring at him for a long period of time and he felt as though she was studying him.

Fledge saw his uneasiness and found herself turning away. She wondered why, she never cared about other people's discomfort before now. "I have them too." Fledge said quietly. She looked up again. Three stars sparkled down at her, radiating light. In her head she spoke to them I want to join you. Please, brother, mother, father. Why did you leave me here all alone? I'm lonely without you here. The stars simply twinkled at her. She returned her gaze toward the ground and Magma. A slight shimmer resided in her eyes that hadn't been there before.

Magma put his head down and faced the ground. He found a stick on the ground in front of him and he picked it up. He poked it into the ground and moved it around. He did this for a while, writing his name in cursive letters. He threw the stick away after her finished putting "Magma" in the dirt. Then, he wiped it away with his hand by brushing over it. He then looked back up at the girl the wind blew his hair. "Um, my name's Magma," he said. "What's yours, if I may ask?"

"Fledge Perpetua, though most people call me 'Hey You.'" Fledge sighed and ran her fingertips along the cool bark of the tree "I'm a bounty hunter." Fledge studied Magma's face carefully. Most people would jump or cringe at her mention of her proffesion, and she wondered what his reaction would be. This night was turning out to be less oring than she thought. A cloud shifted over the moon, casting shadows where silvery light had been.

Magma smirked and turned around completely. He noticed that the area got a bit darker as the wind increased speed. The moon was no longer shining down on the two, but the wind was still there. "A bounty hunter, huh?" he asked. "That's pretty cool. Nice to meet you, Fledge." He no longer felt uneasy about her staring at him as he stared back. Something about her seemed different from others. Still, he decided not to drown out the thought and keep a sharp eye out.
